    861v4
The following cards are fitted as standard inside a Meridian 861:

CO00: Control computer card. Complete with Flash memory, RS232 port for control and status, 3 x confi gurable trigger outputs and Meridian Comms.
CD20 & EF20: Internal (no rear panel) 48-bit DSP cards each containing two Motorola 56367 chips running in dual precision mode, each card offering 300 MIPS (million instructions per second) capability.
    IE42: Digital Input/Output with 6 x S/PDIF (IEC1937) coax inputs, 1 Toslink optical digital input, multiple input options. Includes 150 MIPS DSP de-jittering facility and upsampling to 24-bit, 96kHz sampling. 2 x 2-channel S/PDIF outputs.
IA00: Analogue Input with 6 pairs of analogue input on RCA phono connectors, including super-quality A/D conversion.

Version 3 to Version 4 upgrade replaced the AB00 card with an EF20 (Same as the CD20 card), featuring a pair of Motorola 56367s running in double precision (48-bit) mode, providing an additional 300MIPS and allowing all processing to be carried out at high resolution. This all adds up to a total of 750MIPS (including 150MIPS of DSP on the IE42 digital input card for dejittering and upsampling) – no less than four times as much DSP power as any other comparable consumer audio product.

To provide audio outputs, one digital output card or two analogue output cards must be fitted. The list of available cards (see price list for updates) includes:
SL00: Slave Patch: 4 x DIN 180 for Meridian DSP Speakers only
OE12: Digital Output: 4 x coaxial for Meridian DSP Speakers only
    OA03: Analogue Output: 4 x unbalanced 192kHz-capable on RCA
    OA13: Analogue Output: 4 x balanced 192kHz-capable on XLR
TP00: Tape Output: 2 pairs unbalanced on RCA, 1 x headphone out
IA10: Analogue Input: 2 pairs balanced on XLR (IA00 required)
IA20: Analogue Input: 3 pairs unbalanced on RCA (IA00 required)
IA30: Phono Input Moving Coil: 1 pair unbalanced on RCA (IA00 required)
IA35: Phono Input Moving Magnet: 1 pair unbalanced on RCA (IA00 required)
    IA40: Multi-channel Analogue Input: 2 x 6 discrete channels on RCA

    861v6

The 861 V6 is defined by the following core cards as standard:
  • CO00: Control computer card. Complete with Flash memory, RS232 port for control and status, 3x configurable trigger outputs and 2x Meridian Comms.
  • CD20 & EF20: Internal (no rear panel) 48-bit DSP cards each containing two Motorola 56367 chips running in dual precision mode, each card offering 300 MIPS (million instructions per second) capability.
These 3 cards and the Z8 backplane are carried forwards from the 861V4

  • IE44: 6x Digital Audio Inputs, Phono, D1 to D6 can be configured as 2x six-channel digital inputs with Meridian SmartLink performance. 2x Optical Audio Inputs, Toslink. SpeakerLink Input, RJ45. Meridian Multi-channel High Resolution (MMHR) Input, RJ45.
  • IA04: 6x Analogue Stereo Inputs, Phono. Can be configured as 2x six-channel analogue inputs.
  • OE14: 8x Digital Output, SpeakerLink. L, R, C, SUB, Side L, Side R, Rear L, Rear R.

Other processing/DSP and Comms cards are unchanged from the previous version of 861.

Card options offering further input and output connectivity can be specified by the system designer so that each 861 is made with a specification that matches an individual customer’s requirement.

    Card options for the 861 V6 are;
